The weekend of July 21 the family did a climb up South Sisters near Bend. The mountain is 10,358 feet tall and is a volcano in the cascade range. It was Dylan's first mountain summit and of course he did fine.
This is taken near our campsite. It was on the shore of a still frozen lake. The mosquitoes at our campsite were awful (which is why Kelly has a bandana over her face). But near the lake they were mild so we hung out there mostly.
This is the view of broken top from the lake. It was warm enough that little puddles of water would form on the surface but as soon as the sun went down they would freeze over.
This is south sisters the mountain we climbed the next morning (it is taller than it looks). You can just see the ice crystals forming in the puddle. I had to get very low and close to the edge of the lake to get the reflection but I would not want to fall in.
Broken top at sunrise. I was really hoping to have a puddle to grab a reflection in but it was frozen over.
The view from the summit. (yes taco made the climb too). That is middle and north sister with Jefferson, Hood and Adams off in the distance. There are a couple of more pictures in the whats new folder if you want to see more.
